Direct TV an Alternative to Cable TV
I’ve been itching to get away from Comcast for a long time. The problem is they suck you in with their packages that include telepone, hi speed internet, and cable TV service. When customers want to disconnect one, you lose the savings of the package.
But the cable television setup just needs to go, as the channel selection and quality is well below average. There is so much discussion these days about high definition, there isn’t much of that with Charter Cable. So I began researching who else was available in my neck of the woods.
I happen to be one of the people who have been given a few choices. Unlike a few subscribers who can only select from just the cable company or DIRECTV satellite service, I have a third provider in my region. The phone company in my area has been upgrading their network. So I have another player with U-verse from AT&T.
That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have the same issues. It could put someone in the same situation as with the cable company, because telephone guys want me to bundle their television setup with internet and voice service. If the deal works out well, I’ll be pleased. Then again if the service is poor you are in the same circumstance that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great. So I’m doing a side by side comparison, Direct TV vs cable so I make the right decision.
Most evaluations I found on the internet are fairly good on telecom TV service. Because it is new, there is sometimes a risk with a service like this, and some folks write bad reviews. Those reviews are the quite amusing, because people decide to write a bad review on their horrible experience and post it on the internet. Unhappy customers rail on the company like it is some huge conspiracy to screw the customer, like the corporation doesn’t want our money!
Another way to go that I’m looking into is of course satellite TV. Because we have seven television watchers in the house, we have subscribed in the past to a high end TV package. The satellite companies are fairly even, as the DirecTV Premier and the Dish Network Everything package are each about $100 a month. Sure that’s pretty pricey for cable TV, but when you compare that to treating your family to supper and a movie, the entertainment value is comparable. Some in my family speak Spanish, so the Direct TV Mas programming package looks pretty good. The good thing is that there are lots of Direct TV opinions to help me decide which direction to take.
