DIRECTV Offers More Than Cable

July 12th, 2009 Web Resource World

I’ve been wanting to get rid of Comcast for quite a while. The problem is they give you a great combo with their bundles that include voice, high speed internet, and cable TV service. When you want to disconnect one of these, you lose the savings of the package.

But the cable television service just has to go, as the channel selection and quality is below par. With so much discussion today about HD, there just wasn’t much selection with Charter Cable. So I started doing a little research on who else was available in my neck of the woods.

I am fortunate to be one of the folks who have been given a couple of choices. Unlike a few people who can only pick from either the cable company or Direct TV satellite TV, I have a third option in this region. The phone company in my area has been enhancing their network. So now I have another consideration with U-verse from AT&T.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have the same issues. It would put me in the same boat as with the cable company, as the phone guys want customers to bundle their television service with high speed and voice service. If the deal is good, customers will be happy. Then again if the service is poor you are in the same situation that I’m in now with the cable operator.  So I’m doing a side by side comparison, cable vs Direct TV so I make the right choice.

Some reviews I found are fairly good on telecom TV service. Because it is new, there is always a learning curve with a new technology like this, and some folks share their poor reviews. Those reviews are the funny, simply for the reason people decide to write a bad review on their horrible experience and share it on the internet. They rail on the company like it is some giant conspiracy to screw the customer, like the corporation doesn’t want to make money!

Another option I’m seriously considering is of course satellite television. Because we have six TV viewers in our house, we usually buy a premium TV bundle. The satellite TV choices seem to be pretty comparable, as the Premier Direct TV package and the America’s Everything Pak by Dish Network are both right around $100 a month. Yes that’s fairly high for cable TV, but if you make the comparison with treating your family to dinner and a movie, it really isn’t all that much. Some of my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas package looks like a winner. The great thing is that there are lots of Direct TV opinions to help me decide which direction to take.
