I selected a Cuisinart Smartstick from all of the hand blender models available and I have listed my selection criteria below.
Before I purchased the Cuisinart hand blender I would often avoid a recipe because it would be a major job if I had to get out the food processor just to wiz up a little dressing or to make my morning smoothie. It hardly seemed worth it – to get the food processor out and then the clean up afterwards.
Now, since purchasing my Cuisinart Smartstick hand blender I realise how easy these little jobs are.
Making my smoothie for breakfast is a breeze – the ingredients go straight into the jug and I wiz it up in the jug too. The process normally takes about 3-minutes and that includes cleaning the hand blender afterwards. Previously it used to take more than 3-minutes just to get set up with the food processor so I never bothered making my smoothie – a bit lazy really, but I bet I’m not alone in that!
A typical morning starts with a strawberry banana smoothie which includes a bit of yogurt and it is a great healthy way to start the day. Anything that can assist me to get something healthy into my diet has got to be a real benefit as it is too easy to pick up some junk food which is defiantly not a good way to start my day. The Cuisinart Smartstick is ideal instead of a blender for preparing a soup. We love creamy pumpkin soup and we can now blend this in the pot rather than using our food processor.
It can be an ice blender too – our Cuisinart Smartstick is a blender that can be used on ice which is great on those hot summer days. On hot days I also add a little ice to my strawberry banana smoothie so it is important that your hand blender can handle ice.
Most importantly the children think the smart stick is their own milkshake blender and they will also copy dad at times and enjoy a strawberry banana smoothie.
When selecting our hand blender or smart stick I used the following criteria;
Ease of cleaning – this is an important thing I look for when selecting any kitchen appliance and in particular when reviewing food processors and blenders which are used to mix liquids. There is nothing more frustrating than hard to clean appliances especially when you have been mixing milk-based products such as my breakfast smoothie or a milkshake for the children.
Most hand blenders are easy to clean and the Cuisinart Smartstick is not an exception – cleaning the Cuisinart Smartstick takes only a few seconds.
Ease of use – any kitchen appliance must be easy to use. Our children know a Cuisinart smart stick or hand blender is easy to use.
Quality – I hate buying junk! Sometimes when you buy kitchen appliances you may think that the cheaper product will be good enough; however I would suggest you try not to adopt this logic when buying a hand blender. If you are anything like me you will be using your hand blender every day so if it stops working you will not be happy – buy worse than that will be explaining to your children why their milkshake blender is in the rubbish!
Cuisinart produce a range of blender models and it is up to your own circumstances to select a model that will suit. There are other brands of hand blenders available too, but after looking at our options we felt most comfortable with the Cuisinart Smartstick.
